Junior Infants Maths Games

I have made some simple A4 number mats, using Clip-Art, that can be printed and laminated for use in class. I use them with playdough e.g. putting the correct amount of candles on a cake, spots on a butterfly or sausages in a frying pan. Counters or dry-wipe markers can also be used of course! They are great for individual work but they can be used in games too.

Recycled Sculptures

Two pupils from 4th/ 5th class recycled some junk material to make some super sculptures!Ben created a interesting sculpture using old CD cases, pencils, bottle tops and re-used cardboard.

Joey used an old music box, a large paper clamp, some used batteries and his imagination to make his fighter plane.

Have a look!

Updated logo and log in

There were comments at the CESI conference regarding the logo that anseo.net uses.  Generally, there was confusion with the first letter and many people were typing the “@” symbol instead of the letter “a”.  I have introduced a new logo, which aims to address this.

Also, logging in has been made easier.  You can now log in by typing in your username and password on any screen on the blog.  once, logged in, you can choose from a list of options, which will appear on the right hand side of the screen.

Back online after CESI

Apologies to anyone trying to blog since the CESI conference.  Due to its success at the conference, @nseo.net upgraded its server.  However, in that process some downtime occurred and a temporary @nseo.net replaced it.  Things are fine now and we look forward to offering a faster service with new ideas coming all the time.

An EduMoBlog

edumoblog.jpgInspired by some of the talks at CESI, and the fluke that my mobile phone is a Sony Ericsson, I set up a new blog - an educational mobile-phone blog – or EduMoBlog.

@nseo.net workshop

simoncesi.jpgCESI, the Computers in Education Society of Ireland, hold an annual conference and this year I was lucky enough to be selected to give a workshop called Blogging in Primary – essentially how to use a blog in primary schools.  My main purpose was to show how easy it is for schools to set up a blog and write up blog entries.  I used @nseo.net to allow participants to practice.  (more…)

Blogging – So easy! Must try this with my class!

I gave a workshop on blogging at the Computers in Education Society of Ireland where nearly 50 teachers learned how to write a blog entry using @nseo.net.  Rather than deleting all the hard work, I decided to collate most of the blog entries for you all to read.  It was great to hear the feedback – that blogging IS easy! special needs assistants

There seems to have been very little thought put into the implications for teachers of introducing special needs assistants into schools in Ireland.  This is unfair to both teachers and to those who take up posts as special needs assistants. While some teachers see the SNA as an asset in the classroom, the majority do not seem to know how to treat this intruder into their classroom and some are positively hostile seeing them as an unwanted intrusion in their terrritory.

Our New Web Site is packed with videos and photos!

Two New Albums in @nseo Gallery

I’ve added two new photo albums to the @nseo gallery.  The first album contains photos from the Nicholas Mosse Pottery Museum and Workshop in Bennettsbridge, Co. Kilkenny.  The second contains photos from a trip to Wicklow Gaol in Wicklow Town.
