I suppose I’m asking that question myself. I could buy an eBeam, Mimio or Onfinity Interactive Whiteboard and a cheap projector. Both my classrooms would then have one but over the summer, since my course on IWBs and since meeting representatives from Promethean and Smart and learning of all the advantages and disadvantages of all their products, I think it’s time I took a fresh look at the prices out there now. September’s over…so do we have enough money for an Interactive Whiteboard?

Simon Go Animate!
September 28th, 2008
aaa It’s not often I’m blown away by web sites. It’s not often that I recommend them either. In this case I’m also going to break my “Irish-only” rule about recommending a web site because this is one of the first web sites I’ve found where you can use it to teach Comhrá Gaeilge and make it very very fun! Kat Continuing on from Kat2′s last article about Phonics International, this post concentrates on she used the Phonics International scheme in her classroom. Part 3, which will be uploaded separately goes into more depth about the program itself and when Kat2 met the author. (more…)
Introducing an Online Synthetics Phonics Programme
September 26th, 2008
Kat
(Preface from Anseo.net) The following is an article written in January 2007, just before the launch of “Phonics International”, a synthetics phonics programme, which is online. Many Irish schools are using “Jolly Phonics”, which is a synthetic phonics programme and many of the items in this series will be very helpful to them, particularly after the initial stages of the programme. Those who have not bought into a synthetics phonics programme should also read with interest as “Phonics International” is renowned as being excellent. We welcome Kat2 to our team. Some readers may know her from the Education Posts forum, where her help has been greatly appreciated. (more…)

Verb List (Rith)
Anseo.net introduces the first of a series of verb lists in Gaeilge after a few requests for resources for older classes. As time goes on, we will upload loads of verb lists, including all those horrible irregular verbs! This set follows the verb “rith” – to run – which is a regular verb following the conventions of verbs with a “caol” (or narrow) last vowel. As always, please rate these downloads and don’t forget to add your comments.

Problems with Promethean After Sales Service?
September 13th, 2008
Simon I’m personally surprised by this news. I subscribe to the Education Posts forum, which is a forum for all teachers and SNAS. A thread was started a couple of days ago about whether a teacher should invest in Promethean or Smart IWBs. I was amazed to see that almost every post so far condemned Promethean’s after sales service. To quote a user… (more…)
Interactive Whiteboard Posts are now being sponsored
September 13th, 2008
Simon
Smartboard.ie are now the sponsors of all Interactive Whiteboard articles on Anseo.net. Firstly, we would like to thank the company for their sponsorship as it keeps us motivated to write. Secondly, we’ll clear a few things up about the sponsorship deal.
The main item to clear up is that articles will not be biased towards Smart products. When IWBs are being discussed, Anseo.net will still remain impartial. The other thing to clear up is that if a company wishes to sponsor the web site, we will welcome it. Our only condition is that we can remain impartial.
Alphabet Frieze as Gaeilge
September 8th, 2008
Simon On request, [thanks JT], here is an alphabet frieze in Gaeilge. Since the Gaeilge alphabet, generally, does not use the letters j, k, q, v, w, x, y or z, these are not included in the frieze. Please feel free to add suggestions, send pictures of them in use in your classroom, etc.
