Digital Art Week 2015

Digital Art Week is back for another year. For those of you who haven’t done it yet, Digital Art Week gives primary school children around Ireland the opportunity to share their art with other children around the country and complete some fun visual arts activities. As it’s digital, over the course of the week, schools will use digital tools such as Twitter in order to learn about art and to create their own pieces of work. Started in 2011 by teachers Simon Lewis (, Damien Quinn (Seomra Ranga) and Fred Boss (PDST), the project aims to give children and teachers the opportunity to use technology in a simple way to learn all about art. There are four main parts to the project.

  • Bomberg_The_Mud_Bath-1A shared gallery that all schools
  • An online Art Treasure Hunt.
  • A list of recommended web sites that children can play around with to gain an insight as to how some famous artists worked.
  • Conversations about visual arts using the hashtag #artweek15 on Twitter.

This year we’re having a couple of themes: W.B. Yeats and Vorticism. This year is the celebration of 150 years of Yeats and it’s also 100 years since the art movement Vorticism was born. We’re going to be looking for some art pieces based on either theme and we’ve loads of ideas on how to do this on the web site

You can register now and everything starts on April 27th. We look forward to having as many schools as possible on board.
