A bit late in the year for this; however – one of the teachers in my school made this fantastic ActivInspire Flipchart about Divali for an assembly back in early November. She has agreed to allow us share it with everyone. As Divali is a festival of light, it might be handy if you are comparing it to Christmas.

We are busy getting the annual Halloween/Samhain/Diwali celebrations organised. As usual, there’s lots of fun and games for the parents, children and teachers.
I have spent the entire day making resources, researching ideas for activities and designing posters and instructions for the staff and parents to follow. So, seeing as I am in the generous kind of mood, I’ve uploaded them here for you all to dowload and use.
The Halloween Posters and instructions for the games did have pictures/clipart but I’ve taken them off as couldn’t use them on the website.
Also, added the story of Samhain and an art activity. It is virtually impossible to find a story about Samhain for children but tried my best here. The festival of Diwali can be celebrated by creating some nice pieces of Rangoli. Rangoli is a colourful design made on the floor near an entrance to a houe to welcome guests in. During the festival of Diwali, Hindues draw these Rangoli patterns to encourage the goddess Lakshmi to enter their homes. I’m not going to ask you to do that! Instead, some easy to colout templates for your craft lesson or Diwali Party!
Enjoy!

My friend has sent me 3 more picture books for infants. They are based on the theme of “An Aimsir”.

These Gaeilge books were sent to me by a good friend of mine to share with people. She made them for her very young class so there are no words in them. They can be printed in A3 for an A4 book for class reading. They’re perfect for whole-class reading and will look great in a class library.
Apparently there’s a small error in one of the books. Here is the corrected version.
