Digital Art Week 2015

Digital Art Week 2015 took place during Tech Week from April 26th to May 1st with over 100 pieces of Digital Art uploaded to the official web site as well as a load of images and art shared on Twitter under the #artweek15 hashtag. This year pupils were encouraged to gain inspiration from various art apps, the concept of Vorticism and, if they felt like it, a touch of W. B. Yeats.

Leo The Vole was also back for another Twitter Treasure Hunt and Damien Quinn from Seomra Ranga had a Twitter puzzle each day to test the pupils around the country.

It was interesting to note some schools in particular. For example, the fantastic St. Peter’s Primary in Bray, Co. Wicklow, did some phenomenal work using different apps. Below is a video (Vine) from their web site of a pupil working on an app that created some really interesting patterns.

Meanwhile on the web site, there were some amazing examples of creativity. Here are just a sample of the wonderful images uploaded to the web site.

I’m sure you’ll agree these pieces are highly impressive and testament to the talents that young people have when it comes to visual arts. Digital Art Week will be back for 2016 and we’re looking forward to it already!
